What is the difference between a prepaid card and a regular credit card?

The prepaid card looks similar to a MasterCard credit card; both have the MasterCard trademark and hologram. And merchants accept it just like any other MasterCard credit card. The only difference is that the prepaid card doesn't have a credit line and any transaction effected on the card will be automatically deducted from the remaining available money on the card.

Why it is safer than carrying cash?

When cash is lost, it's gone forever. But if your card is ever lost or stolen, you are still protected. Your card will be replaced and the money balance will be transferred to the new card.To get your card replaced, make sure to memorize your card number or to keep it in a safe place.

Can I use my card to make reservations at a hotel?

Yes you can, but hotels will verify that your card has sufficient funds to pay an estimated bill for your stay. That amount will be "held" in your account, making it unavailable for other purchases. When you check out, the "hold" will be removed and the actual bill amount will be deducted. You can avoid having funds held by using a MasterCard credit card at check-in. Your card is always welcome for final payment.

How do I buy something that costs more than what is available on my card?

You can use all the amount on your card and pay the rest of the bill in cash.
